![]() -=| Preparations before the Wedding |=- So what has happened to me for the past week? There were many happenings and I shall list them out one by one. =j Jasmine’s wedding was last Wednesday, and I was in charge of the corsages. Had to buy fresh flowers from Cold storage, go over to the market to get ribbons. And at the same time my sister wanted to get a letter printed from her floppy A, all thanks to the printer whose ink dried up due to the lack of frequent usage. We went over to all the photo shops that we can find and we know of, as they print pictures for digital cameras so they should be able to print documents from computer to paper. My mum was able to get it done in Kodak at the branch at Toapayoh, and over at the market that branch was not able to get it done. We went over to the shop, and my sister tried to ask if they provide such services, but the sales assistant was very firm and sure that every branch of Kodak in Singapore does not have such service, her attitude was quite bad too. After this incident our image of Kodak was destroyed, we used to think that Kodak services were quite good, but proven wrong. Back home, my sister volunteered to help me with my corsages. Due to the structure of forget me not, I had to pick out small clumps of it. Forget me not grows in small clumps, and these clumps grows out of a stem in a leaf vein structure of left right left right pattern. And if I were to put the whole stem into the corsage, it would be a huge gigantic bunch of forget me not bouquet. To prevent this problem from happening, I have to select the super rare, one clump on a stem forget me not. Anyway no worries, using my mediocre talent of mine I was able to do a group of 9 bunches of flowers for the sisters. And my sister did me a good favour of adding on the mini baby breath like flower, did not know what was it called but I saw loads of them up in Cameron highlands selling 5 bucks a huge bunch and it’s damn expensive over at Singapore. Due to the last minute changes in using ribbons, few original ideas were modified. The tying ribbon for the corsage should be a double, a pink and white ribbon going together like the dragon and the phoenix, tying into a double bow. But later we realised that there weren’t enough ribbon to go around the hand, so it became a single bow, however it was pink on one side and white the other, I guess the meaning was still there of the dragon and phoenix going together. Due to the old Chinese culture, the Chinese braiding knot was originally the bride and groom’s hair combined together to tie a knot, how romantic, but nowadays who keeps such long hair, like xiao long nu and her nephew. To combine the pink ribbon and the white ribbon together my sis had to use tread and needle to sew round and round the ends of the ribbon. To end the corsage, she wrapped the stems together with green florist tape and finishes the corsage with a silver ribbon in front. Kept the wrist corsages in the fridge for the night, did not know if it was good for the flowers or not, as the dry cold air would cause the flowers to dry up faster, but the temperature in the fridge would prevent the flower from dying sooner due to our humid weather. ![]() |
