-=| Renovations |=- This week really sucks; my house is under renovations for this whole week and a few days of the next. I knew right from the start of the week that I cannot live in such conditions, pimple breakouts, allergies and rash would sure to arise. "It is just going to be one week." My mother said with disbelieves, and everything above did happened to me the next day. I really hate it when this happens; it causes me to feel inferior of other people with nice skin. On Monday, I was forced out of the bed as early as 7 plus close to 8, to help mum do some last minute moving and shielding of objects with newspaper. (I am now used to the sleeping cycle of sleep at 1-2am and waking up at 10-12am.) Damn, I am malnutrition and now not having enough sleep. The contractor came and laid a "red carpet"(Cardboard sheet to protect the expensive parquet flooring) to welcome the sashaying fashionably late workers. Ladies take note: Checkered shirt paired with red-hot puffy pants is in this summer fashion. To further accentuate the look wear Mediterranean sandals up to the mid calf, right below the knees. Go for the fashionable retro, middle eastern look, wear a silky scarf folded in half like a triangle and end it by tying ends with a knot at the chin with a big bumble bee retro glasses. The workers were wearing stuff like that but I did exaggerated stuff a little but whatever it is the Mediterranean look will be in sooner or later. The workers started work with a huge sledgehammer and started pounding on a wall. It looks real fun for the workers, slamming that hammer on the wall, but for the people around is an eardrum vibrating, earthquake like noise pollution. I shall not go in detail, but the workers removed the master bed frame, raised a few walls, removed a few doors, hacked up the floor and created a real mess in the house. The wood paneling in the room is gray in colour instead of a light mahogany and that is how thick the dust was. The weather nowadays is really hot, the windows of the room were all opened; yet I could sweat by just seating, could easily save money on sauna. The newly build room seems really freaky, sound waves echo on the walls even though the windows were wide opened, I do not feel any wind from the windows, and I could sweat in that room, it is as if I am in a vacuum.*Paranoid that i might get into attack due to not having enough air * For the first night, I slept on the floor with a mattress like a kindergarten kid at childcare, next to dust and concrete chips, with a huge sofa blocking a shared fan in the living room. My mum was thinking of sleeping length wise on the double-seated sofa at the living room, my nincompoop dad went to sleep seating down on the favorite side of that double-seated sofa leaving "lucky" mum to choose between 2 out of 3 single seated sofas. As for my Sis, she went to sleep in the room filled with sand, concrete dust, chips of bricks and concrete. That room was really hot despite the windows were wide opened, the fan could not be used as the dust would be all over the air, what accompanied her throughout the night was a handy dandy straw fan. My sis fell asleep drenched in sweat after vigorously fanning herself with that useless manual fan. I guess it is not just a material price that we need to pay to get the major renovations done; it is a physical suffering that we need to pay too. |
